Hunter-Merrifield are delighted to have partnered with the fantastic Carers UK to find them a New Business Lead to join their corporate partnership team. The role will be working closely with the Director of Fundraising and Communications to increase corporate partnerships, securing new income, and to ensure a cross organisational collaborative approach to securing funding.

Carer's UK are the only national charity centred around unpaid carers. It's their mission to make life better for carers by offering expert advice and support, so that nobody has to care on their own.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Generate new business income from the corporate sector
  • Line manage the Corporate New Business Executive, including developing the business plan, and agreeing target sectors and approach
  • As part of the annual business plan include researching potential clients, with consideration of appropriate income streams including advertising, sponsorship, and well as strategic partnership opportunities
  • Keep up to date with sector trends, and specific partnership activity
  • Make 'cold approaches' to arrange face to face meetings (or video calls) to build understanding of clients' objectives, as well as build relationships
  • Involve senior managers as necessary in meetings with clients
  • Complete application process (where applicable) such as for charity of the year, drawing on internal resources
  • Ensure a pipeline of activity is maintained and built upon
  • Ensure cross organisational working at all times, including updating the database on meeting outcomes, especially important with the Employer for Carers membership team
  • Contribute to overall development of the fundraising team strategy
  • Ensure all proposals and partnerships are compliant with the Fundraising Regulator and best practise
  • Provide a monthly written report on all aspects of the role objectives
  • Identify suitable industry events to attend, in order to gain contacts and knowledge

Person Specification

  • Extensive experience of generating new business income (from any sector)
  • Line management experience
  • Excellent written and communication skills, including delivering presentations
  • Good financial reporting skills, including pipeline activity, secured against budget and year on year analysis
  • Commercially astute, with demonstrable experience of successful proposal writing
  • Ability to translate organisational outcomes and data
  • Excellent attention to detail, including presenting financials in proposals and bids
  • Successful relationship builder, being able to demonstrate longevity of relationship
  • Knowledge of collecting impact data, and creating reports to clients
