Major Donor Manager

A great opportunity has risen for a major donor manager to work within the Philanthropy department of a highly regarded charity supporting UK Veterans.

You will be responsible for delivering an effective and systematic High value donor programme, building on existing relationships with supporters and identifying new prospect major donors.

Responsibilities:

  1. The role will require the post holder to contribute to the development of the major donor fundraising strategy and generate income targets from high value donors.
  1. The post holder is responsible for initiating, building and sustaining productive fundraising relationships with a range of new major donor prospects, producing and managing detailed cultivation and stewardship plans and overseeing budgets.

Main responsibilities of the post:

  1. To support the Senior Manager Philanthropy & Special Projects to deliver the overall High Value Relationships Business Plans and deliver against income targets
  2. To oversee the development of individual high value donor relationships, and to personally manage a portfolio of prospects and donors.
  3. To ensure the delivery of the highest standards of support, service and stewardship to high value and major donors, ensuring compliance with donor monitoring and reporting requirements.
  4. To be accountable for the analysis and evaluation of performance information, income & expenditure, monitoring and reporting against objectives, outcomes and KPIs for internal and external audiences
  5. Work with the Prospect Researcher to lead on the identification and research of potential new major donors to produce a pipeline of prospects and income opportunities
  6. To keep up to date with best practice in fundraising and comply with relevant legislation and regulation ensuring that good practice is observed.
  7. Line manage staff.

The post will use high degree of communication skills on a regular basis to influence decision making by others, this will include a wide range of external audience's.

What Knowledge is Essential?

  1. Good level of computer literacy; knowledge of Microsoft Office and databases.
  2. A thorough understanding of tax efficiencies relating to significant donations.
  3. A good understanding of the Major Donor fundraising market and trends.
  4. Knowledge of Raiser's Edge or similar CRM database.

What skills are Essential?

  1. Demonstrable and highly developed interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal.
  2. Excellent networking and influencing skills at the highest level.
  3. Excellent organisation, prioritisation and time management skills with the ability to deliver to a deadline under pressure within a context of competing demands.
  4. Proficient in Raiser's Edge or similar database.
  5. Ability to apply a broad range of communication skills to influence, motivate and persuade a wide range of people to donate.
  6. Ability to manage relationships effectively

Qualifications

Degree or marketing qualification (or equivalent vocational experience)

What Experience is Essential?

1.Proven track record of personally securing five figure gifts

2.Demonstrable experience of achieving income against agreed targets

3.Demonstrable experience of recruiting new donors.

4. Experience of developing and delivering exceptional donor stewardship programme

5.Experience of producing written reports and proposals, delivering quantitative and qualitative information in both formal and informal styles

Hunter Merrifield is excited to be working with a membership organisation that represents and advises UK food and drink manufacturers; they are the voice of the UK food and drink industry.

We are looking for an experienced fundraising professional or a candidate with proven experience building commercial relationships with corporate partners. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maximising commercial income streams to support the organisations work for its members.

This is a rare opportunity for an enthusiastic, credible and self-motivated candidate to support this team to achieve its targets as well as an opportunity to develop their skills in negotiation, events coordination and stakeholder management.

What will my responsibilities be in this role?

  • Assisting the team in researching and developing new commercial opportunities.
  • Researching and approaching sponsorship prospects by telephone and email.
  • Account managing corporate partnerships with high value.
  • Managing paid marketing and sponsorship relationships.
  • Managing the commercial training income stream.
  • Creating and maintaining records on the membership CRM.
  • Compiling a database list of call targets and maintaining records.
  • Maintaining invoicing spreadsheets and arranging billing.
  • Providing support at membership events.
  • Occasional administrative support for the team and the Membership and Commercial Director.

What experience do I need to be successful in this post?

To be considered for this role you will need to be self-motivated and results driven, committed to reaching stringent commercial targets. You will have:

  • Excellent negotiating skills, persuasive and polite, with the ability to quickly and confidently grasp the membership offer and communicate the benefits via telephone, email or face-to-face.
  • Experience of working in demanding commercial, sales or sponsorship role.
  • Team player, flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Calm under pressure whilst appreciating key targets need to be achieved.
  • Experience of working within the following: trade association, fundraising, sales/ marketing qualification would be desirable

What Key Skills do I need?

  • Good research skills, with the ability to use a variety of sources.
  • Excellent IT skills including use of database and content management systems.
  • Proven experience of working in a sales role (either paid or intern), where marketing calls and/ or regular customer contact formed a key part of the role.
  • Educated to GCSE level in Maths and English.
