The Researcher works to provide research and policy support and are responsible for the curation and development of both primary and secondary research and corresponding briefings, policy responses, press releases, speeches and other correspondence as required. They provide support by sourcing, analysing and managing a library of material, key facts and figures, documents and briefings. They will have a strong understanding of particular areas of domestic UK policy and beyond and will provide line management to any interns and volunteers where required whilst also liaising with external think-tanks and other research organisations.
Key responsibilities:

  1. The sourcing, development and upkeep of a library of policy and research material including facts and figures, documents, briefings, policy positions, correspondence and any other relevant material to aid the day-to-day knowledge and specific projects
  2. The development and curation of briefings, policy responses, press releases and other material including content for speeches and other correspondence
  3. Providing day-to-day research support by monitoring media coverage and news activities and liaising with internal and external contacts to disseminate key information through the use of briefings and written reports

Wider responsibilities:

  1. Producing draft policy positions and briefings as well as keeping abreast of all political and other media stories and key developments
  2. Developing draft content including responses to enquiries, drafting sections for speeches, responses to press releases and other material
  3. Undertaking research projects to establish facts and figures for the use in briefings including through sourcing Freedom of Information requests, speaking to industry professionals, media contacts and other stakeholders where directed
  4. Produce clear briefings with background information that is relevant and current
  5. Liaise with key stakeholders in managing events and engagements
  6. Producing draft content, including any articles or blogs
  7. Respond to enquiries and provides diary and logistical support where required
  8. Line manage and/or supervise any interns or volunteers

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate in their application

- Good understanding of the UK political landscape
- Excellent writing skills
- Accurate and thorough research skills

- Good personal organisational skills and an ability to work to tight deadlines, both individually and as part of a team

- Strong IT skills
- Experience in a similar role is an advantage
