Membership Account Executive

Our client, a leading membership organisation, based in the heart of the West End, is looking for a highly self motivated and professional individual to support the account manager to effectively deliver a recruitment and retention strategy.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working within a membership or customer focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Collecting renewal payments in the designated time.

Support the Account Manager in the management, analysis and upkeep of the team portfolio for members.

From within the portfolio identify key members/contacts and ensure they are fully engaged and are utilising information and have access to:

  • Sector/channel councils (and interest groups)
  • Legal services
  • Events and workshops
  • A quarterly activity report

A successful account executive will work collaboratively with colleagues and provide the necessary support to members. They will also use their commercial skills to identify and develop additional revenue opportunities beyond the annual membership fee:

  • cross selling opportunities
  • possible new sponsorships

Provide advice to members either directly or through liaison, including

  • Legal and regulatory affairs
  • business advice on trend forecasting
  • exchange of knowledge and ideas on Best Practice
  • Introduce members to each other where appropriate to help them develop their business opportunities

The AE's role is a balance between supporting the AM and a member facing position - the AE is expected to meet their members in person through "field-based" member visits/presentations expected to have a number of meetings per week (including evening events) and is expected to participate in events and activities.

General

Meet all internal reporting requirements

Keep updated on trends and issues affecting the Marketing sector generally.

In conjunction with appropriate staff, ensure that Office, and Health and Safety and Data Protection procedures are complied with.

Undertake such other tasks and duties as may be required from time to time.

Within these two job roles as a Membership Sales Executive, you will be responsible for targeted membership acquisition, recruiting new members and upgrading existing members.

We are looking for a passionate and self-motivated membership professional with strong communication skills and experience in customer services. The successful candidate will be a sales professional with the ability to have a consultative approach when speaking with existing and new members. In this role, you will need to be commercial in your thinking, aiming to maximise membership revenue, achieving and exceeding membership sales and upgrade targets.

What will my responsibilities be in this role?

  • Generate significant new business sales (new joiners and up-graders) to agreed monthly targets via outbound calling
  • Work to joiner and upgrade targets, forecasting outcomes and regularly reporting on performance against targets
  • Deploy soft sales techniques to explain the benefits of, and encourage, upgrades
  • Advise, recommend and assist members with choosing the correct membership package and sell the benefits of the upper packages
  • Develop warm leads and nurture relationships with prospects to close the deal, and potentially sell further products and services
  • Actively build and develop knowledge of the sector, our competition, dentist's needs and "our company" services in order to assist with objection-handling and identify product improvements
  • Understand and respond to member concerns or reasons for leaving, briefing prospects of their options, countering concerns and persuading individuals to join and/or remain in membership
  • Identify opportunities to promote the benefits of membership during all calls, tailoring information about our services to the individual's circumstances and needs, to improve understanding of the member offering and improve perception of value
  • Work in a unified way with other Sales Team members to ensure all opportunities to support and sell are utilised
  • Develop and foster close relationships with key stakeholders, such as Membership and Marketing colleagues, to ensure up-to-date information is shared with prospects
  • For every contact, ensure that all member contact is recorded in CARE and that any necessary processing is completed and all appropriate confirmation emails or paperwork is undertaken with immediate effect.

What would my responsibilities be?

  • Administration using the central CRM database, Salesforce.
  • Confident telephone skills as all staff in the department are required to support incoming calls into the department as well as making outgoing calls on a regular basis.

What experience do I need to be successful in this post?

The ideal candidate will be passionate, articulate and confident to deliver presentations to a room full of undergraduate students!

The main focus of this role is to engage with IOP student members with the full range of benefits and services available to them, and to support the marketing team in recruitment and retention campaigns. The role will also support the IOP's efforts to recruit and engage members on scientific apprenticeship schemes.

Responsibilities:

  • delivering value to our members
  • encouraging members to participate in IOP activities
  • development of a digital engagement strategy and plan with the Head of Membership
  • attracting, recruiting and retaining members at all stages of their career, from students, apprentices to the retired

Context

This role makes a vital contribution to developing and delivering services to the new generation of members who are currently in university or on apprenticeship schemes.

The post-holder will work to manage student engagement with the IOP by supervising student ambassadors on campus in partnership with the IOP's marketing team, liaising and managing the IOP's relationship with university student affiliated societies and continuing to develop the student engagement programme, along with working closely with the Member Development Manager on the student offer.

The role will also help to recruit and engage with scientific apprentices, by providing cross-organisational support for the marketing and delivery of a value-based offer to ensure that trainees and apprentices receive relevant careers information, and have opportunities to engage as part of the physics community. Additionally, the post-holder will support the recruitment and retention of students with the marketing team, and oversee the governance of the IOP's student activity by building relations with our university student members, and through the International team.
