What will your day look like?

You will work closely with the Marketing & Development department to develop and deliver the strategy for the Corporate Membership scheme and Thought Leadership programme as part of the Development department strategy and the five-year plan.

You will research, meet and engage with companies and partners that have a good reason to support the organisation. This will include: researching companies, cultivating relationships, actively selling the scheme to prospects, producing proposals and agreeing Member involvement. Prepare and negotiate a legally binding contract for each Member, sponsor or partner.

You will manage relationships with members, sponsors and partners, creating a community that will serve in the long-term including: agreeing objectives from the start of the contractual relationship, managing membership relationships through regular meetings, engagement and evaluation following up with members on agreed future actions. Ensure all communication is coordinated, appropriate and monitored, working proactively with members, sponsors and partners to make use of their contractual benefits and association with the organisation.

You will ensure that contractual obligations are met and that benefits to each funder are maximised, according to agreed objectives, managing member, sponsor or partners expectations. Propose and manage joint initiatives to achieve objectives.

You will prepare regular reports on fundraising progress and strategy, keeping senior colleagues and the Board informed. Liaise with staff to maintain awareness of Marketing and Development department priorities and relationships ensuring that contact between members, sponsors and partners is on message. Evaluate relationships at agreed milestones.

You will deliver the annual Corporate Members Reception, Thought Leadership events programme and other member events as appropriate to further the objectives of the Corporate Membership programme and Development strategy

You will manage the design and production of a range of communication materials and excellent copy which communicates with a range of audiences as required.

Ensure the website is promptly updated with agreed member, sponsor and partner accreditation and information, maintain comprehensive files and records tracing sponsor/donor relationships and ensure the database is developed and maintained. Ensure all data is processed and managed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations

The development team sit within the Membership directorate and work closely with engagement and marketing.

  • Promote the routes to professional registration (EngTech, IEng, CEng) to existing non-registrants and non-members.
  • Promote Fellowship to existing members who may be eligible to upgrade.
  • Visit colleges and universities, promoting student membership as well as corporate grades.
  • Maintain and develop overall team relationships with colleges and universities with the intention to establish key contacts and generate leads into entry and corporate grades of membership.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to promote and recruit new members through contact with key employers in the industry, and conduct company presentations.

  • Recruit new members and identify further recruitment opportunities through attendance of relevant events, exhibitions, Societies, Group and Regional meetings and training events.

  • Develop and provide clear, consistent messages and guidance information on the benefits and routes to membership to disseminate through a variety of mediums and events and exhibitions as well as universities/colleges and through social media platforms.
  • Update and maintain the membership pages of the website and regularly contribute to the Journal and E-News promoting regional membership activities.
  • Record all activity on the CRM database including inputting potential members' information. Selecting members who are likely to upgrade and monitor existing member data for follow up actions and to produce statistics and progress reports on membership growth and retention.

This is a full time role which would be a strategic and rewarding career move for an experienced business development / client relationship individual with an interest in private equity and venture capital. You will be based in London with the expectation of the ability to travel within the UK as required.

What will I enjoy as part of this role?

Your primary responsibilities will be to track and monitor engagement with members, to identify where there are opportunities and needs, to increase engagement with specific members, to devise and execute engagement plans, and to manage a regional engagement plan.

Regional engagement is key to ensuring an inclusive platform and you will be helping the Head of Membership Services to devise and execute a plan to ensure that members are fully aware of regional activities, and executing a plan to support organisations with similar aims nationwide. Strong commercial awareness is required as your engagement will have a commercial impact. You will enjoy playing a pivotal role and on a day-to-day basis you will need to work with the Membership, Commercial, Marketing, Events, and Training teams and with senior internal and external professionals. What key skills and experience will I need to ensure that I succeed?

  • Strong private equity/venture capital knowledge is preferable. Experience of working with firms within the industry, or with other large financial or professional services firms would be beneficial;
  • A proven sales, business development or commercial relationship management track record is essential;
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills, with the ability to present ideas and concepts to a broad set of audiences;
  • Strong Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills are essential;
  • Strong relationship building skills;

Based in London and reporting to the Head of Business Development, the Business Development Manager will play a key role in promoting and prospecting new business opportunities. The successful applicant will engage major financial services organisations from the public and private sectors in a collaborative manner for partnership/sponsorship opportunities. This includes events, research projects, reports, podcasts, editorials and advertising. In additional to identifying and securing partners for OMFIF's analysis products, the Business Development Manager will focus on increasing the membership base. Membership is a core element of this think tank and the Business Development Manager will be engaging with senior-level executives in financial institutions globally.

The successful candidate would ideally have more than two years' experience in business development or sales roles within the economic, financial or legal sector, or a similar environment, and can demonstrate a proven track record in new revenue generation. We would expect the Business Development Manager to:

* Develop revenue generating engagements with existing products for new members/markets

* Identify and generate leads through effective telephone liaison with prospective members and sponsors, promotional correspondence, client visits particularly within the London area and presentations on the benefits of membership

*Drive and coordinate successful negotiations with prospective members and sponsors * Build, manage and maintain a substantial pipeline of potential members using the CRM system (Salesforce and Pardot), ensuring accurate and up-to-date record-keeping

* Work towards, meet and exceed realistic and agreed sales targets for new business, up-selling contracts and other membership business development objectives

* Work closely with other teams to deliver projects for new members/markets.
