Interim Membership Marketing Officer

We have an exciting opportunity for a Marketing specialist from a Membership background to working with a leading Chartered Institute for a period of 1- 2 months. The successful candidate will be responsible for Copy development and supporting the review of the renewals process.

What will my responsibilities be?

  • Comparator organisations desk research - look at similar organisations based overseas and compare offering, pricing, benefits package etc against the organisation's prospective offering
  • Copy development
    • Student recruitment:
      • create messages and adapt accordingly depending on materials/format: i.e. student/HEI packs, UCAS email, student bulletin, welcome collateral
    • Member benefits:
      • build on headline copy to create long-tail messages for Students, Associates and Full members (bullet points, paragraphs, headlines)
      • support creation of a script for animation/video to promote member benefits
      • develop copy for a member/new joiner handbook (working across directorates/teams)
    • eBulletins:
      • create segmented emails
    • Renewals - support the review of the renewals process; refresh, rewrite and develop messages, across the relevant channels, for the entire process
    • General administration (including logging merchandise requests and insight projects; fielding queries, raising POs)

What experience do I need to be successful in this post?

  • Experience of working within a marketing, communications or R&R environment,
    ideally within a membership organisation or charity (must understand marketing principles)
  • Ideally a qualification in marketing (though not essential)
  • Excellent copywriting (vital; from email copy to campaign messages on leaflets and web - must be able to put the audience at the forefront and balance this with the existing brand/house style)
  • Strong and confident communicator - both oral and written skills
  • Adept at briefing and working with creative teams/designers (internal and external)
  • Able to liaise with colleagues across different departments
  • Core administrative skills (raising POs/invoicing), as well as multi-tasking, prioritising
  • IT Proficient including:
    • Microsoft packages particularly excel, word
    • Digital channels (ideally MailChimp or equivalent bulk email systems; SurveyMonkey)

Senior Content Editor (8 month FTC)

We are very excited to be working with one of the UK's largest membership bodies, while they develop a new website and digital strategy. This specialist association is looking for a confident and experienced Content Editor who has project led a key transformation.

The successful candidate will work closely with teams across the organisation, supporting them to develop relevant and engaging content for their diverse membership. They will also be a confident writer, with an analytical approach to their work, looking to make a clear impact. This is a hands-on role, so ideal for a seasoned content editor or digital project manager

What will I be responsible for as part of this role?

  • Project manage a content audit of the current website and microsites
  • Develop, communicate and implement a plan for website content re-purposing and creation
  • Work with the College's Digital Project Manager to ensure content creation deadlines are met
  • Oversee the content publication process, working with the website system supplier and content authors across the College to add content into the Content Management System (CMS)
  • Where required, provide staff with training and coaching on how to:
  1. o Write for the web
  2. o Write consistently with the College's style and tone of voice
  3. o Personalise content for specific audience personas
  4. o Structure content to fulfill accessibility and SEO requirement

What key skills and experience will I need to ensure that I succeed?

  • Significant experience working as a Senior Online Content Editor
  • Experience in developing a content strategy and content plan
  • Experience of creating the different content types used on a website (blog post, event promotion, news item, report summary, informational content etc.)
  • Ability to write and edit for a variety of target audiences and reading ages
  • Excellent knowledge of grammar and style
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills
  • Good understanding of SEO principles and of accessibility (WCAG AA)
  • Able to lead, train and coach a team of content authors
  • Knowledge of Drupal 8 and/or GatherContent is an advantage
