Hunter Merrifield is delighted to be o be working with a leading government agency to hire a Senior Board and Committee for a period of 6 months. The successful candidate will provide high quality clerking and governance support for various boards and key decision-making bodies and committees. For this role, we require someone with proven experience managing formal board/committee meetings and be able to apply relevant legislation and governance best practice.

What will my key responsibilities be?

1. To provide clerking and governance support to a number of boards and other Authority bodies as necessary, to undertake scheduling of meetings, preparation of reports and agendas, drafting of accurate records of meetings in accordance with the Directorate's policies and procedures.
2. To provide appropriate and timely procedural and business management advice to the chairs and members of the relevant bodies and senior officers and ensure appropriate and effective management of business and continuous improvement in meeting-related activities, ensuring that all relevant people are properly briefed on key issues in advance of meetings, that early warning of issues is provided in a timely and effective manner and to initiate, co-ordinate and monitor action taken to implement decisions of and other bodies.
3. To develop and maintain effective working relationships with appointed members as necessary in relation to bodies to which support is provided, officers within the Authority's Secretariat
4. Contribute to the development, implementation and management of the Authority's governance framework

What do I need to be successful in this post?

1. Proven track record of success in managing formal Board and/or Committee meetings;
2. Evidence of ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation and governance best practice; and
3. Broad understanding of key policy and political issues affecting London and the governance structures of London.

We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Membership Officer (with at least 18 months experience in a Membership body). The successful candidate will act as the first point of contact for members and the growing network; the Membership Officer is critical to ensuring all members' experience is positive and the benefits and services provided are communicated effectively to both prospective and current members.

What will my responsibilities be?

• Actively manage new, renewing and exiting members.
• Increase membership numbers through improving processes relating to joining and renewals
• Oversee existing membership services and the development of new services with the aim of working to improve the membership offer
• Manage the collection of member data in line with GDPR requirements
• Manage the CRM including system administration, data entry and reporting, ensuring all data collected relating to existing and new members is accurate and verified.
• Manage the process for the collection of membership subscription fees, renewals and related income
• Coordinate membership mailings in conjunction with the communications team to engage current and prospective members
• Manage the application process for new connections and manage existing connections to ensure they adhere to the annual appraisal cycle and meet revalidation requirements

What experience do I need to be successful in this post?

• Experience in data management using databases and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software
• At least 18 months experience in Membership body
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and able to communicate at all levels and across a range of audiences with ease
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to often-tight or suddenly imposed deadlines
• Takes the initiative in solving problems and looks ahead and takes action to avoid problems

We are thrilled to be supporting a leading membership body that acts as the voice for the UK food and drinks industry. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience in the food and drinks industry, to support members with queries around regulation such as food safety and health. This role plays a key role in ensuring members are advised and supported, so this role would be ideal for someone with a service driven approach.

What would my responsibilities be?

• Act as first point of contact for queries from members, the media and the public and, where necessary, refer these to the appropriate body or individual.
• Analyse, summarise and disseminate technical documents in a timely and accurate manner on food issues from UK and EU regulators and institutions.
• Draft/develop the work plan for the agreed associations in consultation with members, manage the budget and ensure the associations operate within the agreed budget
• Provide technical support to the Associations Manager and the agreed serviced Associations, including assistance with the organisation of meetings, record taking and follow-up actions.
• Liaise with horizontal committees, government departments, European Associations and other stakeholders and ensure that members of serviced associations are aware of relevant discussions internally and take part in the development of policy positions.
