Fellowships Officer

Hunter Merrifield is delighted to be working in exclusive partnership with the Institute of Physics to recruit their new dynamic and innovative Fellowship Officer. This role is a fantastic opportunity to drive change and work on an exciting addition to the IOP's membership and encourage diversity and inclusion.

As part of the membership team you will join a group who are responsible for admission and progression through all grades of membership and for providing professional recognition through registration and accreditation. They are responsible for subscription collection, records management and customer service to members. They work closely with other teams across the Institute to develop educational pathways, engage with physics based industry and inform policy, as well as to recruit and provide career support and other services to members.

Fellowship is the senior grade of membership and increasing the diversity of Fellowship has been identified as an important strategic objective. You will be responsible for all aspects of the Fellowship application process.

What will your day look like?

You will providing support and advice to applicants for Fellowship, checking paperwork is complete and recommending changes if required, contacting supporters and allocating and monitoring assessment panels. The role will also be responsible for communicating the result to the applicant, with detailed feedback for rejected applicants, and the conduction of any appeal against a decision.

You are responsible for the recruitment and retention of the Fellowship Panel and will need to build and maintain relationships with panellists. Panellists are all volunteers and senior professionals and excellent customer service must be provided at all times. At the same time, you will be required to monitor panels for compliance with policy and procedures and for any evidence of misapplication of criteria or unconscious bias. The role also requires you to develop and deliver training events for Fellow assessors, run face-to-face assessment panels and produce statistics on Fellowship for the Professional Standards Committee.

You will take responsibility for the policies and procedures that cover Fellowship and ensuring they remain up-to-date and fit for purpose. You will also be required to continuously monitor performance to identify improvements that can be made to the Fellowship process that will encourage more individuals to apply whilst maintaining standards.

What experience will you need to be a success in this role?

  • Proven ability to build relationships and negotiate with stakeholders of all levels
  • Proven ability to work in a team and work independently when necessary
  • Proven ability of writing formal reports
  • Experience of working with volunteers
  • Experience of providing advice and guidance on matters of a sensitive or confidential nature to individuals and organisations
  • Experience of successfully delivering presentations
  • Experience in the area of professional standards is desirable

Membership Office Co-ordinator

Membership Coordinator

This is a fantastic opportunity to support a great membership organisation based in central London. You will be a key member and play an important role providing administrative support to the team.

Responsibilities

· Fully understanding all the functionality of the system within the organisation on how to maximise its potential

· Accurate inputting of data onto the system. Including meeting notes, changes in job title, changes in membership, invoice and payment status

· Accurate on-going management of the data held within the database

· Extracting reports from the database as requested by the team

- Proactively identify and provide suggestions to improvements to the system to create a more effective and efficient system

- Coordinate and attend member relationship and commercial meetings to capture new insights to update the database and support where appropriate with facilitating actions from these meetings

- Coordinate communications with members such as usage reports, event attendance reports

- Provide reliable and efficient administrative support for the member relationship and commercial team in scheduling meetings, booking travel, collating sales materials, reminding members of events

- Answering the phone and effectively handling queries/questions and rerouting calls to colleagues with a high level of professionalism and customer care

- Provide logistical and administrative support in the preparations for each event

- In addition to the responsibilities listed above, the job holder may be required to perform other duties as assigned by the Member Relationship Manager
